I created the character Magdalena Highlander one summer many years ago. I feel as though I woke up that summer and exposed myself to various healers and workshops. The movie “What the fu*k do we know?” made an impression, as did meeting a female shaman Alora. She told me to remember why I am here: Fire & Light. I also signed up for the Landmark Forum workshop, and participated in both the introductory 3-day course and the advanced course.

I was in love with Sting and his album Sacred Love that summer. I would walk around my neighborhood with his songs in my ears, his lyrics and rhythms spiraling me to ecstacy. I went to four of his concerts in California and Arizona late summer 2004. After the last concert in Hollywood, seated in the first few rows at the Hollywood Bowl, I got invited to an after-party at a burlesque dance club on Vine Street. It was rumored that Sting would be there. When we arrived, we got ushered to the VIP entry as there was a long line of people outside waiting to get in. Once inside, I looked towards the stage where a woman dressed in a beautiful gown and wearing long white pearl necklaces was dancing. Sting was standing right next to the stage, surrounded by gorgeous women. Later his wife Trudy arrived. I was hanging out in the back, behind the club, where the smokers were. I struck up a conversation with one of Sting’s assistants. Fascinating. Then all of a sudden Trudy and Sting exit and I walk up to them and Trudy takes my hand while holding Sting’s hand in her other hand. The three of us walking towards their waiting limousine, the entire smoking crowd watching us. I kiss them farewell and they drive away into the late night.
